I looked on with envy at that hand. I had 3 suckers (2 banana, 1 plantain) from my house in Mandeville, which gave a hand each and now, only 1 palm remains tho I see a new sucker coming, but nary a blossom. The last hand was blown down by storm earlier in the year. Day oh! π
Some plants have funny & unpredictable gestation & fruit production. Having that with pumpkins that been in since March but wont set fruit; Iβve enjoyed blossoms. In part, was too hot in spring. Now, itβs cooler, but too much rain making beds soggy. But, Iβve learned a lot about pumpkin vines, which are permanent in our climate.
At one point during the drought this year, this tree looked as though it wanted to give up, but I kept giving it water. I would have been disappointed if it hadn’t produced anything but leaves. Can one eat banana leaves? I wonder….

I did wonder if this tree was ever going to do anything in the way of fruit! And look at it now! π
