Surrounding Hills & Mountains: Weekly Photo Challenge – Tour Guide

“Share with us an image, or two, or three, (or more!) of where you live. For bonus points, tell us what it is about the photo(s) that you love.”

I have lived in the Kingston Metropolitan Area of Jamaica almost all of my life. On the flat land of the Liguanea Plain. And I love the surrounding hills and mountains that you can see…driving on the Palisadoes strip, on the way in from the airport…Palisadoes

…to the west, as the morning sun shines on them…Hills to the west

…the mountains to the north, seen from Hope Gardens….Mountains from Hope Gardens

A flat lander, who loves being able to see the hills….

Moments of Solitude: Weekly Photo Challenge – Beloved

“In this week’s challenge, share with us something that is beloved.”

Moments of solitude are something beloved by me.  To sit on my roof by myself and watch the clouds in their infinite variety of shapes and colours, like these mammatus clouds the other morning…mammatus clouds 2

Or on a cottage balcony, way up in the hills, looking down at city lights…P1160839

Or having breakfast by myself in a town in a country a long way from home…P1040009Time alone…with a book, with a cup of tea, with a journal, in nature…lovely…Journal and cup

From My Roof: Weekly Photo Challenge – Local

An important part of local for me is the house I’ve lived in for more than a quarter of a century in Kingston. Mornings and evenings I go up on the roof. I sit. I look around. I think. It’s a good vantage point for observing things both near and far. And sometimes I take photos.
